So, it has been a blast this week. I heard from people all around the country that I hadn’t heard from in years, old college buddies, high school friends, co-workers, etc. And being on “Log On And Eat With Eden Grinshpan” was a hoot!
I think the thing that amazed me the most about this whole experience was just how well the production company did their job and how much fun we had. It was crazy because we shot all of the video for a few hours back in May, and I really didn’t hear that much until around a month later randomly on my 10th anniversary, when I was out in Napa and I was about to go eat at The French Laundry – somebody on the team called me and picked my brain for about thirty minutes. And that was it. Pretty much radio silence for months after that. I would also like to point out that I just name-dropped the hell out of French Laundry. And I’ll do it again at the slightest chance.
Chicken on the stick was chosen because it was the safest for video – but I would have loved to tear up a leg quarter and gotten all up in a hot chicken thigh.
I especially loved the scene where they showed my crazy eyes – I was really worried they were going to put some sort of effect on me or Eden, but at the end of the day, Dubstep and quick cuts ruled the day and ruled it well
Eden was a sweetheart and it was fun how organic the whole process was. There was no script, there was just a bunch of rough ideas and the director, Samantha (Sam), put us through the paces. And Sophie. the assistant producer did a great job of making sure that everything was set up correctly (and helping to make sure the guy sitting outside didn’t stare at us the whole time). And the rest of the crew was a hoot, I would have loved to have seen the aftermath of them hitting my chicken…
Another thing I loved was the fact that the background screen as the text was popping up “I was born with a terrible affliction” was my hate screed against The Pharmacy – BWAHAHAHAAAA!
And I have to say the shot of the construction of the fish sandwich was the most delicious thing I’ve ever seen – totally a food porn moment. I’d be lying if I said that I hadn’t played that segment over and over in a loop this week…
And the best part of it all, the one thing that I kept hearing from everyone over and over was that they did a great job of capturing my personality at its core, and I’m not sure what could be a better compliment. Can’t thank the team at Noise Productions and Eden enough for the experience!
If you didn’t catch it the first time, the show will air again Saturday 10/26 at 6:30 PM EST/5:30 PM CST on The Cooking Channel.
